Really it was a success for the school’s enrolment campaign to reach the target number of enrollees for the Academic Year 2008-2009.The enrolment increased thrice of the last years’ enrolment due to effective strategies employed by the school administration led by its President and Chairman of the Board Anthony L. Yap.
The President granted discounts in the tuition fees which were affordable to low-income families. The grants were distributed to qualified youths particularly in the second district of the province.
The positive outlooks of the administration to answer the needs of the youth in line with education made possible the influx of students from Bulalacao, Mansalay, Roxas, Bansud, Gloria, Pinamalayan, Socorro and even Pola. These students received up to 50% discounts in tuition fees. Their tuition fee almost equal the amount fixed by other state colleges and universities.
Of the more the 600 new students in ICST, most belong to BS in Information Technology, BS in Criminology, BS in Hospitality Management. The increase in the Education Department and College of Business Administration was also impressive.
Because this is a challenge to the administration, it assured to give the best quality of education to students by hiring new and competent faculty members, and putting up additional establishments and facilities to better meet the standard requirements for proper education.
Since the development of the students is a priority rather than greater income, the administration generously put-up the Speech Laboratory for use by the students of the College of Education as well as students from other departments who take up Speech and Oral Communication.
Similarly the students enjoy the internet access for their research works.
For the College of Information Technology an air conditioned computer laboratory inclusive of fifty units of computer is housed in the second floor of the HM Building.
The College of Hospitality Management is comfortable with its laboratory with complete facilities, its mock bar with all the needed paraphernalia, the Café or canteen with all its furnishings and the mock hotel rooms.
Worth mentioning for is the College of Criminology with all its complete functional facilities.
To accommodate students who came from distant municipalities, the school established the two-story concrete dormitory for females and another building for males.
With a goal to come closer to God, those in the dormitory organized a Bible Study Group which meet regularly after classes in the afternoon. This was thought about to lead the students away from unwholesome routine and vices.
The increase in student population is not only a challenge to ICST Administration but also to all its faculty members, for them to share their expertise to the students. It is also a challenge to each of the students to show, most especially to their parents; the unusual experiences, and learning, the knowledge and skills they presently receive from their mentors under the roof of their dear institution, the ICST.
